Global Survey Seeks to Evaluate Feedback Practices to Create a More Inclusive Environment for Researchers
The ISSCR is working with researchers out of the University of Greenwich, UK on a project that aligns with the Society’s strategic priorities to foster inclusivity, collaboration, and excellence within the research community. This initiative seeks to enhance feedback practices across disciplines and regions, creating a more inclusive environment that particularly benefits early-career and marginalized researchers.
ISSCR members and researchers worldwide are invited to participate in the voluntary survey, which explores how researchers seek and receive feedback to make academic research more equitable. According to the research group, while feedback is essential for researcher development, existing mechanisms often unintentionally reinforce barriers like gatekeeping, delays, and exclusion. By sharing your experiences—whether through discussions with colleagues, AI tools, or other methods—you can help the research team map and critically evaluate diverse feedback strategies to address these challenges.
The survey will take between 5 and 15 minutes to complete.
Guided by open scholarship principles, this project will culminate in an e-book offering actionable strategies to improve research quality, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, and support an inclusive feedback culture. The ISSCR will share the findings as well as a free e-book with the community.
The input from the international scientific community is valuable, and the research group would be honored to have the participation of ISSCR members in shaping this important initiative.
